Melding the passions of French artist McBess, Le Dead Plastique is a black and white punch in the face. The 20-inch rock’n’roll incarnate is tatted up with a mesh of music, marauders, and meat paying special homage to dead pirates and pretzels.

What inspired this design?

I wanted to make this like an extension of my illustrations, simple black and white / rock and roll character, with big bold text on him, something with a lot of impact like a punch on the cheek.

Is there any significance to your band, The Dead Pirates, rock, roll or your meat iconography?

Of course, this is all a big meat-pie, this toy is summing up everything that I do, the band, the drawings, the food…this should be like a icon for what I do.

Is it post-modern rock and roll?

Well I listen to a lot of different type of rock but the main veins are 70′s, stoner and psychedelic rock’n'roll, but overall it’s link to the music that I love to do because of it’s simplicity and contrast. I see him as the incarnation of rock’n'roll itself

Buff Monster made a name for himself by putting up thousands of hand-silkscreened posters across Los Angeles, and other far-away places. His work is characterized by happy characters living in brightly-colored bubbly landscapes. Along with meticulously executed paintings, he has created a wide range of merchandise ranging from prints and stickers, to vinyl toys and plush.   His art can be seen in the likes of Juxtapoz, Paper, Nylon, Cool Hunting, Angeleno, The Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly, The New York Times, and many more. He was also featured in Banksy’s movie: Exit Through the Gift Shop.

L’Amour Supreme was discovered as a teen by the seminal skateboard/punk rock/ heavy metal graphic designer Pushead, Lamour Supreme has reinterpreted decades of comic books, action figures and monster movie references and twisted them into his own lexicon of 21st century hyper-pop imagery. He has continually created genre challenging work for brands such as Mishka, Nike and Super7.

Kidrobot LA & BLU DOT team up for a custom MUNNY show featuring over 30 artists & designers.  Wanting to go beyond the “norm”, Kidrobot LA reached out to over 30 individuals ranging from illustrators, fashion designers, musicians, architects, graphic designers, among others; to bring their “Spring Forward” group show to life.  From fully conceptual, to classically illustrated, each MUNNY is a reflection of the artist’s own take on the forward thinking ideals of  “Spring”.  BLU DOT is a great partner due to their keen eye for design and beautifully crafted furniture; not to mention their awe-inspiring showroom, is the perfect setting for the opening reception and to showcase the diverse stylings of these unique designs.
