Just wanted to let you know that we posted the winners up on our Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kidrobotrules
There are 435 more emails to sift through so we will gradually put up the rest we we can find time. Hopefully they will all get up by the event in November ;)

No kidding. The Health Care debate has less drama.

thanks baroness, we figured this was just an oversight. i imagine things get hectic crazy in the office. these things can get way out of control but has been handled well. look forward to pics.sure everyone will chill the hell out now.
The Baroness
To all of the people who politely and professionally brought it to our attention, we thank you. And to those who chose to go the other route, I send plenty of good karma your way.
We will be posting the photos of the winners and will try to get the photos up of all the entries. It will take some time due to the way they were sent in, but you can look forward to them on our flickr page.
Again, I appreciate everyone who brought this to our attention that this contest meant more than for Kidrobot to see your designs, but for the community to see them as well. Look for them going up slowly this week and I hope everyone has an amazing time seeing all the submissions.

Congrats to all involved and especially the winners anyone who gave it a shot is worthy in my book!!

Lisa, couldn’t have been worded better.
Scott Gingold, your daughter’s piece is classic! Pieces like this should have made this page.
Such a disappointment when such a company like kidrobot hypes up a contest and doesn’t put as much work into it as its participants. It shows a lack of respect for its dedicated followers. The least they could have done is shown most if not all the entries. Sadly, this lack of effort will make me second guess joining another contest.
Thanks to swellzombie who opened a flickr group for the entires KR deemed unfit for this page. http://www.flickr.com/groups/1191928@N24/

Congratulations to all who won and didn’t win, you all did great and it shows.
Mine is the Black and White with red center..($old) – Peace out,- Optikmass :)

Ok, no matter how good or terrible any artists work on their munny is, the fact remains, they worked hard and engaged in mutual participation with kidrobot. That being said, do they not deserve respect? These are wild brain and kid robot supporters, and they have been given smart aleck responses from one of the company’s most visible representatives. It really is not acceptable. It may seem harmless to those at the top but this is what hurts a business from the grassroots. People talk. Arrogance will hurt you.
Kitty
Oops, I mean Congratulations! Aw, newbie spelling error…

If any one would like to see my entry it’s here:

I loved making it! Usually I get frustrated with these kinds of things so having a deadline made sure I finished. That’s one reason to be greatful for the contest, even though I didn’t win.
And Congradulations to the winners!
Chris
@Sundona – Kevin G wasn’t actually at the Dunny Pre-release at Schmancy. I’m his brother and I was there, but don’t think I had a pic of his Munny on my phone, but I’ve been wrong before and it was a crazy evening with my son all wound up :-) I did trade Dunny’s with Jon though!
Kevin, while having a lengthy career in graphic design, is new to Munnys, so I’m pretty damn proud of him.
Cire
If all the entries were shown above,
then that would solve everything.
Then we could see who we think the winners should be.
Then you could announce the winners by presenting them in the adds for the November show.
I look forward to seeing all the winners and all the entries!
Cire
Felix
Congratulations to 64 Colors:
I was worried that nothing new and original like McPerson, Olivas, or Ryden based work would be shown. YAY!

Mine is the Pirate #2
And I don’t know you
reneeruth@yahoo.com
i am happy for the winners, i am sure they deserve to win. the jeff koons comment is confusing. how does he apply to this conversation about the toy industry? are you saying that at a certain level of success you draw the line? categories would be good and listing the judges is common protocol for art competitions. the one day turnaround for results seemed a bit curious. all this was probaly just an oversight in a very busy new york office. i’m sure kid robot will fix it next time. in the meanwhile i love the idea of posting each of our results and look forward to seeing all of the losers baby!
here is mine….http://www.flickr.com/photos/27698521@N07/

It would have been awesome to some more of the ones that are not pictured. I know a couple of my peeps on the boards did some frickin awesome customs that should have at least been seen. Mad props to all of you who found the time to submit one before the deadline!!!
Jeff
Thank the lord pinwheel pirate was show #2. Cause I was worried I had put too much time into my Munny. (and yes I realize that was prob. some persons sons entry who’s in your accounting dept.)

And she looked behind the curtain and saw it was just a man!

Could you also post the REASON why we should pick YOU, the winners wrote in with their entry… would LOVE to see those!
Sundona
I met Kevin G at shamancy’s at the dunny party. he showed my his munny on his phone.

I started a group on Flickr.com to host all of us who submitted a Munny to this contest. It’s for the losers and the winners.
Just go to: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1191928@N24/ and become a member and throw some pics up. I’ve already put my weird submission up.

“1. I was also under the impression this contest was not for those already in the BIZ or are already well known CUSTOM/TOY Artists.
“Kidrobot has never worked with any of the artists that won. This was a chance for everyone, artist or not, to participate. Mind you, if Jeff Koons submitted we probably wouldn’t have picked him, but the people that did win are unknown to us.”
Fair enough that it was open to anyone, but to claim 64 Colors is unknown to you is a little silly, since they do have their own whole Marshall toy out. Although, I’m sure it was an awesome Munny.
The Buzz
as said by #25
1. “…but the people that did win are unknown to us”
I find that VERY VERY VERY hard to believe. I don’t live my life for KIDROBOT but even I know 2 of the winners on that list… I find it very hard out of all the Judges you HAD zero idea who some of them are. Or even better said to yourself… WOW this Quality of work is AMAZING… shall we google them and see what comes up?
2. “Then you can see what they can do”
How about what they DID to get in? Not posting winners entries places a huge cloud of doubt on your company and your abilty to organize events of this caliber. I dont care how long you have been working with KIDROBOT you have a reputation to up hold.
3. “When it comes to events and contests I am always open to opinions and suggestions.”
I don’t think its the general consumers job to inform you or your company how to hold an event. You are hired for a reason, your job is to make sure things like this go off with out a hitch. NOT YOUR customers!
4. “That is true, this contest was based and judged on what we think people would like to see at the show in November. ”
Yet the contest rules said “Entries will be judged on concept and execution.” Not on what you think people want to see…
I feel sorry for all the true non-commercial artists and kids out there who took the time to work and sculpt and paint their hearts out to see they just competed against some of the BIG WIGS in Toys who just rehashed work that has been seen on every Munny SITE for years… SHAME ON YOU KIDROBOT!
Chester
Baroness, thanks for breaking it down!
And I can understand wanting to build anticipation in an attempt to market your future show – not showing the winners’ work at this time…
But with all of the time and effort that these artists and Kidrobot fans put into this contest, would it be too much to ask to see all of the entries together?
Baroness
“Feedback or at least a confirmation would have been a courteous gesture seeing as we all felt a great sense of pride with our art having a chance to be submitted in MunnyWorld.”
Totally understandable. We’ll work out an autoresponse system next time if you have to email an entry in.
Ormi6a
In addition to comment # 11 and others, I’ve noticed a few honorable mentions had their customs out there (via web blogs and posts)way before the contest began. I had fun customizing mine but it was a bit tedious trying to beat the deadline. In 2005 I did a couple of customs for a Trexidoodle contest, in order to participate you had to buy the blank Trexie(s) which came with an ID number which you had to submit with your customs’ pictures or templates. This would have been a good idea to use in this contest. I think a lot of the participants feel jip’d in a sense that they don’t know if their submissions were received or not. Feedback or at least a confirmation would have been a courteous gesture seeing as we all felt a great sense of pride with our art having a chance to be submitted in MunnyWorld. To all the participants “post your works on the Kidrobot discussion board” let us all have a chance to look and admire your little works of art!!

the truth
Let’s not forget…
Kidrobot is a Company.
They got out of this what they wanted…
We all learned a lesson!
end of story~
(Now lets go back to making ART!)
Jon
Baroness,
Thanks for shedding some light on things. Bottom line – we all knew there would be a lot of sick entries (though 300 sounds low…)
Since the goal here was for people to gain some form of recognition, puting name and location (e.g. Joe Schmoe. Bumble, WY) on thumbnails posted to a temporary gallery might appease the masses and give non-competitive types a TON of inspiration – making the gallery temporary would only take up your web space for a short time.
Thoughts?
Baroness
Hey everyone!
For those of you who have any questions or concerns I wanted to let you know the deal. Since someone put comments in easy to read numbered format I’m just gonna copy and paste em :)
1. I was also under the impression this contest was not for those already in the BIZ or are already well known CUSTOM/TOY Artists.
Kidrobot has never worked with any of the artists that won. This was a chance for everyone, artist or not, to participate. Mind you, if Jeff Koons submitted we probably wouldn’t have picked him, but the people that did win are unknown to us. Plus there was no way we could ‘rate’ how much of an artist they were.
2. Not posting the examples of the winners art seems a little Dodgy.
This was my decision. I want the artists to complete their MunnyWorld design and have it debut at the event. Then you can see what they can do.
3. The Concept was great but the “execution” of the contest was VERY bad.
When it comes to events and contests I am always open to opinions and suggestions.
4. The idea of pitting the entire Munny world against itself for a coveted position in a show like these seems pretty harsh. With no guild lines or age groups or categories. It all was based on what you folks like in style and wanted to see more of in your show.
That is true, this contest was based and judged on what we think people would like to see at the show in November. We have a lot of other contests where we do have categories or special defined goals, this contest was not one of them.
5. I have a feeling this is going to leave a bitter taste in many Kidrobot fans for a while.
With over 300 entries and only 5 winners I can see that being an issue.
6. (I added this one) I dont know if my entry was received.
With over 300 entries it would be impossible for us to write back to each person to let them know their entry was received. Anyone who wrote a letter concerned that it didnt go through, was replied to.
luciebomb
i still dont know if my photos were received, my mountain munny is not on the random tile shots above….i dont think its an issue that some guy from berlin won but that an established artist won is questionable of whether this contest was even worth the work, super bummed- grateful for the opportunity??????i cant say i didnt have a swell time making my munny though!
IF
Congrats to the winners – well done – But as well as agreeing with those comments above I would add that I think the comp could have been managed much better – this was a huge opportunity for KR and the Munny customising community – for example
Did anyone get a response back from their email to say their entry had been received – I didn’t and was left wondering if it had gone through
The community is large and categorising would have help
Also to show just some of the entries and not label the winners – massive ball drop guys
If anyone should organise something like this properly it should be KR
BTW – none of this is sour grapes I just think it could have been handled better
Nikejerk
Announcement of the winners is totally lack luster. Even the people that won don’t get to see their pieces posted real big on the site….weak. Execution of the contest was a 1 of 10.
ioge
Congrats to the 5 winners ! If the Berlin fella wasent there, I would thought that its only for US people.
ST
First off Congratz to those who won…
But I’m with a few of the others on this:
1. I was also under the impression this contest was not for those already in the BIZ or are already well known CUSTOM/TOY Artists.
2. Not posting the examples of the winners art seems a little Dodgy.
3. The Concept was great but the “execution” of the contest was VERY bad.
4. The idea of pitting the entire Munny world against itself for a coveted position in a show like these seems pretty harsh. With no guild lines or age groups or categories. It all was based on what you folks like in style and wanted to see more of in your show.
5. I have a feeling this is going to leave a bitter taste in many Kidrobot fans for a while.

good luck getting some people to do a mega munny on time… some people have time management issues….

Great entries everyone. Kinda pointless to announce the winners and not have their entry beside their name though. Wish mine made it to the KRonikles page, but here’s the lin to my KR thread. Congrats to the winners btw!

64 Colors won?
I kinda thought this was a way for regular Joe’s to be recognised, not established artists with already a profile in the toy industry.
Oh well.

Great entry everyone! I wish they showed the entries that actually won though. Kinda pointless to just put the names of winners without showing their work. Mine didn’t make it on the contest page but I just posted it on the KR forums, I hope you guys enjoy it.

Congrats to the winners! I just wish the posting for this great contest was less vague and at least allow every single one of the submissions to be viewed on the website.
