The musical holiday known as Record Store Day is that amazing one day a year where you can you find a crazy color repress of the Breakfast Club soundtrack on white vinyl or the unlikely split 7-inch between Mastodon and Feist. It seems that Third Man Records in Nashville, TN is consistently trying to push the envelope of what you can be done with vinyl records. We have seen etched vinyl in the past but it is usually just a picture etched into the B-side of a LP, now on Jack White’s special edition “Sixteen Saltines” LP, the B-side contains a playable etched Third Man Records logo. Now to even push themselves further, they took the same LP single and put free flowing liquid inside it. The record biz is breaking new grounds all over, and I am so not looking forward to the lines that day.
